JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Cost Accounting Manager, this is a challenging position in the Cost Accounting group of a fast growing, global medical device manufacturer. This position is responsible for analyzing and understanding the financial results of our manufacturing operation. This position will perform analysis to support strategic decisions as well as identifying cost improvement opportunities. The position requires the ability to interact effectively with financial and operational people across the company.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
You will:
1. Provide support and partner with our Irvine manufacturing operations and corporate finance groups by assuring the production of timely and accurate financial information and analysis.
* Review, analyze and interpret results of operations, identify financial and operational issues and make recommendations for change.
* Examine, analyze and interpret production variances for manufacturing and financial management including material, labor, and overhead variances.
* Partner with Operations group to proactively ensure proper procedures are established and followed.
* Responsible for month-end close process relating to cost of sales and gross margin analysis.
* Inventory valuation and reconciliation including perpetual, WIP, in transit, capitalized variances and excess & obsolete inventory reserves
* Provide analysis for cost reduction initiatives
2. Responsible for accurate standard product cost.
* Standard cost development and maintenance, including cost rolls, review BOM, routings, & Purchase Order history
* Provide reporting and analysis of actual work order and inventory transactions to ensure proper cost allocation and accounting treatment.
* Develop and maintain budgeting and forecasting models for cost of sales, department spending, and overhead absorption. Prepare or support preparation of all required analysis as directed to meet dictated schedule timelines.
3. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the company ERP system, QAD, and financial reporting software program, Cognos Finance.
4. Other duties as assigned or required..
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
§ BA/BS in Accounting.
Experience:
· Five plus years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment with increasing responsibilities.
· Extensive experience in Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· MBA
REQUIRED JOB COMPETENCIES
· High standard of integrity.
· On time, on schedule focus.
· General business acumen.
· Team orientation and ability to deal cross functionally and build the needed creditability with the business units and project teams.
· Ability to work across cultures.
· Outstanding analytic skills and attention to detail. Strong numbers aptitude.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB reporting requirements.
· Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
· Ability to work effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
· Adaptable, flexible, and personable to succeed in a dynamic, energetic and fast paced environment.
· Strong communication and presentation skills.
· Confident individual who will proactively bring issues and opportunities to the forefront, and deal with them in a timely and appropriate manner. Presents positions with a basis in fact and analysis.
